November 2019 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

November was a month of both joy and sorrow. We are so thankful for the visits we made to Calvary Baptist Church in Byesville, OH and Chowan Christian Fellowship in Tyner, NC. Both of those visits were a wonderful blessing! We also received word from Pastor Tom Gregory at Chowan that they would be partnering with us in January of next year. We also learned that one of our current individual supporters was raising their support level and a new supporter would start this month. That brings our monthly support level to 72%!

The sorrow, as many of you know, comes from the loss of Michele’s Mom. She passed away a couple of weeks ago. We are comforted by the fact of her faith in Jesus Christ but are sad because she will be missed. Much of our time in the latter part of November was filled with grieving, funeral arrangements, and the work of managing her estate.

As we begin to adjust to a new normal, our focus this month is on a year end giving campaign. At the end of last year, we launched a campaign to begin raising the outfit and passage needed to get us established in The Gambia. We initially set a goal to raise $10,000 of the needed $67,400 outfit and passage budget. To our amazement we far surpassed that goal and as of today we have raised $23,719.75!

That leaves a total of $43,680.25 in one-time support still needed prior to our departure. Our outfit and passage budget consists of airline tickets, custom fees, language study costs, shipping expenses, a vehicle purchase, and the various items needed to outfit a home in The Gambia.

Each month, some of our monthly support is now over and above our expenses and is going towards our outfit and passage budget. However, there is over $43,000 left to raise and that is why we need your help. Next year seems like a very real possibility for our departure to The Gambia because of all the faithful individuals, families, and churches who have committed to giving monthly. That is why we have set a goal to raise an additional $20,000 by the end of this year! Help us make this push towards reaching our goal of leaving for The Gambia next year.
